Quiz details
Hari om everyone,
Significance of Kṛṣṇa Kamala
Krishna Kamala (Passion Flower)
This is the flower seen at the end of every episode of Mahabharata Matters.
It was the first bloom of the plant at our home. Incidentally, it had bloomed just before the recordings for Mahabharata Matters started!
Its delicate fragrance is delightful and incomparable! This variety stays open for 24 hrs and starts closing up after that. Some others keep their blooms for a few days.
Amazing Mother Nature! 🙏
- The 100 purple filaments - Kauravas (Apparently, the filaments are precisely 100 in number!)
- The 5 inner yellow petals - Pāṇḍavas
- The single ovary - Draupadī
- The 3 green stamens - the Trimurtis (Brahma, Viṣṇu, Maheśvara)
- The pattern in the center - Kṛṣṇa's Sudarśna Chakra
- The 10 outer petals of alternating color, encompassing everything - 5 karmendriyas and 5 jñānendriyas
These are the characters from the largest epic called Mahabharata. It comprises of 100,000 verses. Though ancient, the values learned are VERY relevant even in this day and era!
This flower is a beautiful reminder that Mahabharata is not something outside, but that all the characters are encompassed within the sheaths of our very own 10 sense organs - look so beautiful, yet transient!! 🙏

About the Vlog
In this series, we will be discussing the matters of Mahabharata, because even today, Mahabharata Matters!
Mahabhaarata is an itihāsa grantha (history). The epic narrates actual events that happened many eons ago. The stories in it are very intriguing and tangled, to say the least.
No character in the epic is free from faults. There are no black and white characters. Everyone falls in the grey area! There are many conflicting ideas, ambiguous situations, crises of dharma, and the like. We find ourselves in these situations all the time! From these stories, we can learn both 'what to do' and 'what not to do'.
This video log (vlog) was started on September 23, 2022, to mark my son's 16th birthday as well as my brother's birthday.
Short videos narrating the stories of the Mahabharata were posted every day, along with takeaway messages. That's what makes The Mahabharata very relevant to us even today!
These videos can't be comprehensive as there can be many takeaways from these stories. Hence, this series will give a good overview of the events and their applicability in today's life.
One review quiz is posted after every 16 episodes. (Since the vlog was started to mark my son's 16th Birthday 😊). These fun quizzes are for the purpose of review and for self-evaluation ONLY!
Do check out the 'Bonus Features' on the right-hand side.
This narration of the entire Mahabharata in succinct nuggets along with takeaway messages, was completed on March 5th, 2023 with 165 episodes in all.
These 6 months have been very gratifying and a humbling experience!
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement! Please keep your thoughts and comments coming for the betterment of the vlog.
Hari om 🙏
